Candian Communities Partners with Virco |
Canadian Communities proudly announces its partnership with Virco, a leading manufacturer and supplier of furniture and equipment to the K-12, university, government and institutional markets.
Through Canadian Communities’ Virco contract, Canada’s academic institutions, health and social services, crown corporations, and agencies across all levels of government have quick, easy access to thousands of popular and reliable Virco products at great prices.
The Virco contract is the result of a competitive tendering and award process conducted by a lead public agency and complies with the Agreement on International Trade. No additional tendering is required by user agencies. Plus, there are no additional costs or user fees required to take advantage of Canadian Communities contracts.
Register with Canadian Communities to access the Virco contract and get the most value for your facility’s furniture and equipment expense dollar.

Member Testimonial: NIGP Listserve Helps Save City of Punta Gorda Thousands of Dollars |
The City of Venice, Florida posed a question on NIGP's listserv about agreements for specific chemical purchases. A dialog between the City of Venice and the City of Punta Gorda, (a neighboring county), developed and focused on Liquid Caustic Soda.
The City of Venice had just opened bids for this chemical and it was awarded to the contracted vendor at $451/dry ton. The City of Punta Gorda was paying a unit price of $832/dry ton from the same contracted vendor. As a result of the listserve conversation, the City of Punta Gorda contacted the vendor and had the price of the contract reduced to $467/dry ton for the next year.
The result of NIGP's member benefit will save the City approximately $95,000 per year.
Marian Howe Pace, CPPO, CPPB
Procurement Manager
City of Punta Gorda, Florida

Need Help Explaining Why Travel Dollars Should Be Spent on Forum? |
95% of attendees surveyed felt the registration costs reflected the value they obtained by attending Forum. These attendees said that the cost of Forum is recouped by more effective spending of taxpayer dollars, strengthened services, and operating efficiences.
...You and Your Agency Need To Be At Forum
When faced with less people and fewer resources, you certainly can't afford less procurement knowledge. The public expects the same services from its government in good times and bad. As a procurement professional, you need to know how to meet those expectations. Especially now, making sound, practical decisions for the good of the agency and the public you serve is critical. Doing so requires that you are familiar with the most effective practices and tips at work in the field.
To help you convince the powers that be to budget for Forum, NIGP has created this Forum Value position paper. If you would like us to email or mail this paper to the person who controls the purse strings in your organization, please email executive@nigp.org We will need the name, title and appropriate address information.
You and your agency can—and should—be at the forefront of procurement, making a difference through decisive, effective purchasing programs. Five days of intensive professional training, networking activities, product exhibits and knowledge sharing will elevate your professional opportunities as you elevate your community and the public you serve.
Forum: You and Your Agency Need It.
