HELP! Update Your NIGP Profile Today!

Please help NIGP continue to provide you with the services and tools that add value in today’s working environment - update your record and demographic profile today!

Currently, NIGP has complete demographic information on only thirty-three percent of its membership, which primarily is provided by the Representative of the Agency. Individuals may update their demographic profile with little effort by logging on to the members-only section of the NIGP Web site at: https://www.nigp.org/Common/login_nigp.asp
Click where it says to View/Change your NIGP profile to make the changes.

Today’s workforce is changing at a dynamic rate. Many baby boomers are considering retirement options, making way for a new generation of future professionals and more women are moving into management positions. Member-based organizations must be able to identify and respond to the flux of new expectations that the changing workforce generates. By understanding the makeup of its membership, NIGP will be able to provide services geared to the future direction and needs of the profession.

NIGP is committed to providing services that are valuable to current and future public procurement professionals. For more information, contact Belinda D. Reutter, CMP, Director of Member Services, NIGP at 800-FOR NIGPx231. [return to top]

Empowering the Procurement Community

February 23-25, 2005 in Orlando, Florida

For the 4th consecutive year, NIGP is announcing its eProcurement Symposium. NIGP is excited about bringing procurement professionals together to network and dialogue with those who are making a difference. These sessions will offer practical electronic applications available to the government community from practitioners with experience.

This symposium will challenge your thinking and give you the chance to explore different tools and techniques available that may maximize your investments and offer greater efficiency. Regardless of financial roadblocks and staffing cutbacks, governments continue to set eGovernment priorities. This symposium will feature general sessions that address broad issues and presentations that address solution experiences.

Affordable overnight accommodations with reasonable airfares make this symposium a value add for those interested in making a difference. Intended to bring those with questions together with those who have the answers, participants will be able to network and dialogue with other procurement professionals facing electronic decisions on a regular basis. In-depth discussions surrounding reverse auctions, best practice, and eCommerce as they affect government agencies, with practical applications for the “electronic” procurement professionals will be featured.

Empowering the eProcurement Community is one component of the many NIGP Educational Offerings. Interested participants are encouraged to visit http://www.nigp.org/educate/eProcSymp05.htm and register early.   Registrations will be accepted on-line, via fax and phone through February 2, 2005. After this date, a $75 late registration fee will be assessed.  Participants can take advantage of a $50 per person discount off the registration fee by sending three or more attendees from the same agency.   [return to top]

Moving Up – Moving On

There are a few notable changes on the NIGP Management Team in Herndon!

Belinda Reutter, CMP was recently promoted as NIGP’s Member Services and Technical Resources Director.  Belinda joined the NIGP team in October 2000 as the Education Department's Seminar Coordinator where she coordinated the logistics for more than 230 educational seminars sponsored by NIGP on an annual basis.  Belinda was also responsible for managing the educational workshops during the annual Forum.

Belinda plans to focus on three goals in the coming year: (1) database integrity; (2) member awareness of NIGP's products and services; and (3) development of a student member program within the college/university system.  To support these goals, Belinda recently hired Harry Kraemer as NIGP’s new Member Services Coordinator.  Belinda and Harry can be reached at (800) FOR-NIGP x231 (Belinda) and x223 (Harry).

After nineteen years of service to the Institute, Cyndi Cooksey is retiring from NIGP on December 15th!  As our first Director of Chapter Development and Support, Cyndi was responsible for the charter of three new chapters each year from 2001 to 2003!  She also spearheaded the Chapter Networker Newsletter, Chapter leadership initiatives, the Chapter awards programs, and several manuals and governance documents supporting the creation of new chapter charters.  She also served as the staff liaison to the NIGP National Diversity Committee.  In addition to her accomplishments with the chapter program, long-time friends of NIGP will remember Cyndi as our seminar coordinator in the 1990s and our certification coordinator in the 1980s.

We wish Cyndi and her husband the very best as they move to their new retirement home near Richmond, Virginia.  And we wish Belinda and Harry the very best as they promote the value of NIGP national membership to our profession!  [return to top]
